Max Payne 2 is a single player third-person shooter game published by Rockstar Games and developed under Remedy Entertainment and is powered by RenderWare. This game is the second instalment in the series of video games named as “Max Payne” to which it succeeds and precedes to Max Payne 3. The game was released on October 14, 2003 for Windows PC, PlayStation 2 and Xbox.

The plot generally revolves around the main playable character Max Payne other than Mona Sax (only in some levels), who works as a detective for the New York Police Department. This plot is a continuation from the former Max Payne game (2001), owning to such incidents he was reinstated in this city. Joining with Mona Sax, he set out to investigate a conspiracy involving the city mafias. And thus, he had to go through various deaths and betrayal.

The gameplay is similar to the first one, the character starts with a simple pistol and later has access to various types of weapons, throwables and ammunition. It features a unique bullet time feature that slows the time and to give the player more time in real-time aiming and decision making. The player has to complete missions and objectives given in-game. This game also includes two new special missions known as New York Minute and Dead Man Walking.
